Nuggetty Hill Cottage, features a wide northerly view NUGGETTY HILL ( MUDBRICK COTTAGE)
The mudbrick (adobe ) cottage was built from 7000 hand puddled mudbricks made from clay dug on the property. The internal finish is a traditional sieved clay and cow dung mix, finally painted with bondcrete. The external finish is sieved clay and vegetable oils to give a water proof coating. Nuggetty has a beautiful hill top position; north facing and with a 180 degree picture window outlook along the Yandoit valley. The northerly aspect and it's great mass keeps the house warm in winter and cool in summer.
Lake House features its own large lake right outside LAKE HOUSE (STONE TIMBER COTTAGE)
The Lake House has a lovely over-water outlook. Built of stone collected from our land, and completed with cedar weather-boards, the cottage has a lovely range of colour and texture. The interior finish of timber , mud-brick and stone gives this cottage a really 'earthy' feel.
Squatters Pride: the Webmaster's favourite abode! SQUATTERS PRIDE (IRON COTTAGE)
This is our most controversial cottage! Constructed of galvanized corrugated iron; and with its interior beautifully pine-lined it was built with an Australian light timber frame, and a hip roof. This cottage stays very warm in winter, and is wonderfully cool in summer. Of course, it is fully insulated, and the all-round verandah gives the cottage a great Australian look and feel.
Old world charm: Cobb & Co cottage, a timber slab delight. COBB & CO (TIMBER SLAB)
The Cobb & Co Coach Company once travelled the Goldfields route between Ballarat and Bendigo passing through Yandoit. It is a post and beam construction with solid treated pine infills. The insulating factor of wood is a great plus. The solid timber feel' and the slithers 'of intruding light between the slabs and posts give this cottage a pioneer atmosphere.
The Lookout Cottage: Views to Bald Hill and a vast lake just below THE LOOKOUT (TWO STOREY TIMBER COTTAGE)
The Lookout stands firmly on a pole constructed platform well off the ground. It has a wonderful view over the valleys and hills. It is located on the edge of a large dam. This two storey cottage has a mezzanine bedroom with a wonderful void highlighted by vertical lengths of ripple iron from floor to ceiling. The bathroom is all iron.
