Jajarawong
has been a registered Land for Wildlife property for more than 10 years.
We are registered with the Victorian Department
of Sustainability & Environment.
"Imagine
our landscape without the Australian bush—no native birdsong, no wild
places for a picnic or a stroll, no blue eucalypt haze on the mountains.
The bush is central to our national identity and culture as Australians.
It makes where we live different from other places around the world."

Jajarawong was one of a few properties
chosen to hold an Open Day in September 2002 to celebrate the 21st Birthday
of the "Land for Wildlife" scheme.
We
have a rich diversity of flora, from Red and Yello Box to delicate native
orchids in Spring. We have a self-guided nature walk that circles the
property (the Jim Crow Nature Walk), which introduces you not
only to the biodiversity that exists but also gives some information
about things of interest that can be observed off the property durign
the walk: volcanoes, historic buildings and bull-boar sausages, etc.
Among the animals to make Jajarawong their home are Kookaburras, rosellas,
gallahs, Eastern Grey Kangaroos, Bennetts Wallabies, echidnas, Blue
Wren, Superb Wren, the Fairy Wren and the busy white-winged chough,
plus many other birds and reptiles.
Our
nature walk comes highly recommended by the large number of guests who
have enjoyed it. Come and celebrate the bush with us... visit Jajarawong.
